Frank Sturek assumed the role of CEO of Millennium Health & Fitness (MHF) on 1 November 2023 following the acquisition of MHF by CrestPeak, a private equity-backed portfolio company. He also is the CEO for Compendium Federal Technology (CFT), an additional small business owned by the CrestPeak portfolio company. He is a minority owner of both small businesses and the portfolio company, and a proven leader who understands how to build high-performing teams to deliver value in the Government Contracting (GovCon) marketplace.
Prior to joining CFT and MHF, he held the position of President at SkyePoint Decisions, Inc., a small business GovCon focused on the Federal Civilian Agency Cybersecurity and Enterprise IT Services markets. Before SkyePoint Decisions, Frank was the Chief Growth Officer at Axiologic Solutions, where he was responsible for managing new business growth.
Additionally, Frank’s experience includes 21 years of active service as an infantry officer in the United States Army that included assignments in Germany, the 82nd Airborne Division, West Point, the 101st Airborne Division, Iraq, the 10th Mountain Division, Afghanistan, and the Pentagon. Frank was recognized as a top performer throughout his military career, and he still currently serves in a volunteer capacity as the Honorary Colonel of the US Army’s 4th Infantry Regiment.
Frank is a graduate of the United States Military Academy (West Point) where he earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He later earned an M.S. in Engineering Management from the University of Central Florida and then taught Systems Engineering at the United States Military Academy as an assistant professor. He is a PMI certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and an elected member of the Board of Directors for the Small and Emerging Contractor Advisory Forum (SECAF)
Joe Burkhart is a seasoned executive with more than 20 years of experience investing in a variety of industries. Currently, Joe serves as the Managing Partner of CFT, a premier provider of engineering services for military aircraft and weapon systems, including integrated logistics and C5ISR integration. He is also affiliated with Boathouse Capital, a lower middle market private equity fund focused on providing capital solutions to high growth and later stage companies. Value creation is central to its investment approach and the firm is focused on building scale in established companies that are well-positioned for accelerated growth. Its flexible and creative capital solutions are tailored to facilitate the unique needs and goals of each company. Joe is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame with a BBA in Accounting. He holds an MBA from the University of Virginia. Joe grew up in Milwaukee, WI and now lives in the Washington, DC-area with his wife and three children. Joe grew up cheering for the Green Bay Packers and he went on to become a team owner. When not working, Joe can be found on the sidelines cheering for his kids’ sports teams or working on his golf game.
Heather has been involved in the fitness and sports industry throughout her life. She received a Division I four-year volleyball scholarship at Western Carolina University where she also received her B.S. in Sport Management, Concentration: Exercise Science and Facility Management. Heather brings exceptional experience in wellness/fitness industry, as well as over 10 years program management and supervisory experience. She has worked directly for the Commander of Navy Installations Command (CNIC), based out of Joint Base Anacostia- Bolling (JBAB), as a Supervisory Fitness Specialist supporting many of the Navy’s top fitness facilities to include all Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam (JBPHH), Hawaii fitness facilities as well as onsite support to many of Naval Base San Diego (NBSD) fitness facilities. Also, during her time with CNIC, Heather worked overseas at Naval Air Station Sigonella (NASSIG), in Italy, where she was the Moral Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Fitness Director.
Heather began working in government contracting in January of 2012 supporting an existing contract that Millennium still holds to this day. She has supported Millennium in a variety of different roles from Wellness Fitness Coordinator, Operations Manager, Account Executive, Program Manger and most recently as the Chief Operations Officer.
She maintains her certifications through the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), serves as a subject matter expert for NAFTA, and is American Red Cross certified in CPR/AED and first aid.
Jim Zopelis is the Vice President of Business Development and Capture for Compendium Federal Technology. Prior to joining Compendium Federal Technology, he held various senior business development and sales roles in both government and commercial organizations, focusing on the growth of specialized communications technology, IT, and cyber programs. Jim is a career Army Officer, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel after 20 years of serving in various theater support roles in multiple regions worldwide. Jim is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and holds a Master of Science Degree in Engineering Management from the University of Missouri-Rolla. Jim is a proud member of the Army Football Club and is currently serving as a Northeast Regional Advisor for the West Point Association of Graduates.
Kathleen currently serves as Operations Manager for Millennium Health and Fitness. She has been in the health and fitness industry for over 30 years serving in various roles. Her career began as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist providing exercise prescription for general population which led her to the lead position at the Amelia Island Plantation. While at the AI Plantation, she trained professional tennis and golf athletes, as well as specialized in pre- and post rehabilitation exercise and geriatrics. Kathleen also has an exceptional management background having managed several exclusive health clubs in the metropolitan DC region. She also has extensive program management leadership in federal program management of health and wellness services. Her ability to enhance existing relationships and establish connections with senior executives and key stakeholders led her to a federal position leading business development for clinical occupational health services. In addition to her current role with Millennium, she provides private cancer exercise training, personal training, and instructs Exos SpeedoFit classes.
Eric Schnabel is a business development professional that has extensive experience working with the federal government supporting small and mid-size companies. He is a retired U.S. Army soldier that served 25 years for our nation. During his time in the military, he worked in many fields that incorporated health and fitness. His last assignment in the military he worked directly for the Secretary of Defense employing human performance initiatives for the warfighter. He lives in Northern Virginia with his family. He is an avid golfer, loves spending time with family and friends, and enjoys working out.
Kristina served in the USMC for five years and upon completion, she enrolled into university earning a bachelor’s degree in business management, focusing on finance. While she was attending university, she went to work with Millennium in 2015 as a Contract Manager overseeing the ten fitness center accounts from the oversight of operations to the revenue accounting. Early in 2017, Kristina came to work full time as the bookkeeper while finishing college and raising two babies. In 2020, Kristina advanced to oversee all aspects of the accounting and finance department. Recently, Kristina advanced to Controller, where she is responsible for overseeing an organization's daily accounting operations, including the accounting, payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable departments.
Karyn has over 20 years of experience in the Human Resource field and has previously worked for Chick-fil-A, MedExpress Urgent Care and Washington Penn Plastic Company. She was born and raised in Northeast Ohio and graduated from Ohio University. Karyn and her husband Rob, relocated to the Asheville, NC area in 2017 from Pittsburgh, PA and she has 2 daughters, Julia and Brooke. Karyn enjoys spending time with her family and dogs, as well as hiking, golf, and cooking.
Sean is a United States Army Veteran with over a decade of leadership experience in sports medicine as well as strength and conditioning. He has a Bachelor of Science degree from George Mason University in Athletic Training as well as a Master of Science degree from Concordia University Chicago in Strength and Conditioning. Sean spent 8 years as an Athletic Trainer for the University of Alabama Huntsville Hockey and Baseball teams prior to joining Millennium. Sean has spent the last three years as the Wellness/Fitness Coordinator for the Von Braun Fitness Center (VBFC) supporting the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) in Huntsville Alabama. While supporting the daily needs of the VBFC, Sean has also worked strategically with the Millennium management team to create agency specific programming to better support MDA’s wellness vision. He was also instrumental in guiding the agency into a new digital era of member support and tracking. Sean has been married to his wonderful wife Katie for 12 years and has a son Ryan (6) and a daughter Avery (3). When not at the gym, Sean can be found at the golf course, fishing pond, or his backyard grill
Air Force (AF) Civilian Health Promotion Services (CHPS) Program Manager, providing oversight of multiple health and wellness programs and staff and liaison to program customer. Michele was previously the Health Promotion Coordinator for CHPS on Robins AFB for five years and the Training Coordinator for all CHPS locations AF wide for two and a half years. CHPS is a mobile worksite wellness program providing free resources to help the civilian workforce to maintain and improve their health and well-being through delivering onsite and virtual services.
Michele obtained her bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems and master’s degree in Human Services Counseling: Health and Wellness Department of Counseling. She holds certificates as a nutrition specialist, financial planner, physical therapy aide and in project management.
Zac has been with Millennium for over a year now. He started out as the executive assistant to the CEO Sherry Morton. He was promoted to Media Coordinator for his experience in photo editing, video editing, animation and web development. Throughout his time here he has had the advantage of working on various projects in different aspects of the company. This greatly expanded his experience and knowledge of corporate work life.
